Padmasana


Padma means 'lotus'. This is a famous meditative posture, also called Buddha posture.

Procedure:
1. Sit on the floor, we put the right foot on the left thigh and left foot over the right one on to the right thigh with erect spine.
2. This posture preserves the equilibrium of our positive & negative currents and heightens the effect of breathing exercises.
3. In this asana we hold our consciousness in the heart. Breathing regularly and sitting immobile, we do not allow our thoughts to run freely, but force hem to obey our will.
4. In this way we consciously store up a tremendous amount of creative energy.

Benefits:
It strengthen the nerves of spinal cord and make them elastic, the respiration gets balanced, concentration increases, the movement of Prana in Sushumna is regulated because of the straight position of the spinal cord. That's why this asana have been found most suitable of pranayama.
