Effort for exposure needed more
We feel immense pleasure to bring out the 2nd issue of ‘Ayur Info’ in a more modified form. The price has been reduced to Rs.5 from Rs. 10 and the no. of pages has been increased to 12 from 8! This has been possible after we got monetary support from various sources. Also, the magazine is switched to four-monthly from bimonthly after considering the suggestions from our teachers & seniors and also due to our own time constraint.
It is a fact that one major reason for Ayurveda not to receive proper value it deserves is its less exposure and publicity through mass media since a long time. This has strongly been pointed out by both public and the elite groups. (It was also expressed by many in Ayur Expo). A lecturer of TU had highlighted this very well in one of the programs here recently. It is primarily we, students, teachers, and the campus administration, who need to act properly for the exposure of our Campus, degree, BAMS, under- construction Teaching Hospital and Ayurveda as a whole. It will help to impart the right information to the public as well as assure them about Ayurveda.
Anyway, these days, the media coverage of the Ayurveda field is growing which is quite positive. A few weeks earlier, Sagarmatha Telivision had produced a documentary about Ayurveda Campus and BAMS. Similarly, recently, we had had ‘Ayur-Expo 2007’ which was quite successful in its motive. It was sufficiently covered by the media houses.
Similarly, the recent visit of Indian Yoga Guru, Swami Ramdev was also very effective in raising the public awareness and interest towards Ayurveda and Yoga. The whole event was also well covered by the media.
We can furthermore utilize the mass media in an effective way for the promotion of this field.
We are deeply obliged to our respected teachers, seniors and readers for their continuous support and encouragement. And undoubtly, we hope for the same in the coming days.
Lastly, we like to thank all those who helped us with the monetary fund- the student unions of our campus- ANNFSU, ANNISU-(R), NSU; Dr. Madhav Lamshal, Director, Singhadurbar Baidyakhana; Himalaya Drug Company, Gorkha Ayurveda Company Pvt. Ltd.
