Rasa Rasayans
are the drugs prepared by combination of herbs, minerals
and metals. Metals and minerals are first purified and
then burnt several times to make Bhasma. Bhasma, the powder,
is the reduced oxide or sulphide form of metal and mineral.
This is one of the Ayurvedic specialties that toxic and
poisonous metals, minerals, animal and sea oriented products
are made as life saving drugs. Rasa Rasayans give better
effect and benefit than the herbal medicine alone. Rasayans
are also rejuvenate, tonic and immunity enhancer. They
are sometimes used as second line treatment in chronic
diseases. Here are some Drugs and their therapeutic uses.

|
Alterative tonic and laxative. Used in irregularity
of bowels, constipation and piles.

Antacid, diuretic, and urinary antiseptic, indicated

Alterative tonic. Used in debility of heart

vomiting, and similar aliments during pregnancy,
increases appetite and gives strength to the

- Ichchhabhedi Ras

Hydragogue and cathartic. Used in constipation,
dropsy, paralysis and in all other condition where
strong purgative are required. |
- Jalodharani Ras
|
Specific remedy for Ascites(jolodar). It cures dropsy
& improves digestive power. |
- Jwarankush Ras
|
Alterative & febriguge. Indicated in all sorts
of fever, remittent & interremittent etc. |
- kaminivindravan ras
|
Alterative tonic and aphrodisiac. Useful in impotency,loss
of semen, gives strength and vitality and thickens
the semen. |
- Kasturibhushan ras
|
Indicated in typhoid, pneumonia and accompanying
complaints, high fever, delirium etc. |
- Krimikuthar Ras

Anthelmintic, carminative and antispasmodic. Used
in worms, cholera, indigestion, whooping cough. |
- Laxmibilas ras

Antipyretic, stomachic, and expectorant. Indicated
in pneumonia, typhoid, delirium |

Antiseptic and antipyretic. Used in malaria fever. |

Tonic and alterative. Useful remedy for filaria. |
