Ayurveda Campus is the only centre for Bachelor
level Ayurvedic education in Nepal. It resulted
from the merging of HMG's Ayurveda Vidhyalaya
and Chikitsalaya with the Institute of Medicine
in 1972. History reveals that Rajakiya
Ayurveda Vidhyalaya was the first to start technical
education in the country in 1928.
Ayurveda Campus is solely committed to produce
qualified doctors to meet the national need.
At present Ayurveda Campus is conducting BAMS
(Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery)
programme as a branch of Institute of Medicine
(IOM) under Tribhuvan University (T.U.). BAMS is a
5.5 years course equivalent to MBBS in the related
field. It consists of 3 professionals of 18
months each, basic sciences, pre-clinical and
clinical subjects with laboratory and hospital
practice respectively. After completion of 4.5
years academic course one has to complete 1
year compulsory rotating internship in different
departments of Ayurvedic Hospitals or Ayurveda
Teaching Hospital.
Its
administrative building has been completed and
academic building is under construction. Its
teaching hospital and other building will be
constructed according to the proposed master
plan at Kirtipur in the sufficient land provided
by T.U. |

The
central Ayurveda Hospital of the country at
Nardevi was started with 4 beds in 1994 B.S.
extended
to 16 beds in 2016 B.S. 25 beds in 2059 B.S.,
50 beds in 2035 B.S. and 100 beds in 2059 B.S.
This hospital has the following units - Internal
medicine, surgery, ENT, pediatrics, Gynecology
and obstetrics, Acupuncture & moxibustion,
panchakarma. This hospital has its own pharmacy
to manufacture medicine. This hospital is very
popular for treatment of Jaundice.
Now the outpatient department of this hospital
is running jointly with the help of lectures,
professors and doctors of Ayurveda campus and
Ayurveda Hospital respectively. BAMS students
do their clinical practicals and internship
in this hospital. |
Future
Plan |
To
fulfill the objectives of the campus the future
plan has
been proposed.
According to the proposed
plan,
the administrative building has already been
completed and the academic building is under
construction. In the next phase Ayurveda Teaching
Hospital will be constructed.
Due
to lack of budget, the proposed plan has not
been able to be implemented in the speed it
should.
The
proposed master plan is according to the map.

NAMSS
Nepal Ayurveda Medical Students' Society
(NAMSS) is an organization of BAMS students of
Ayurveda Campus. It was established for the welfare
of students of Ayurveda in 1998. |
FSU
It is an organization of 7 elected representative
of students to work for the right & welfare
of students & conducting extra activities.

BAMS
Admission Procedure : For
Model Test:

Admission is completely on merit basis entrance
exam conducted by Institute of Medicine (IOM).
The top 15 students of merit list are selected
for the admission. Application form along with
the entrance syllabus is available from the
Dean's office of
IOM, Maharajgunj.
Eligibility :
Academic Qualification : Candidates who have
passed Proficiency Certificate in Traditional
and General medicine or Intermediate in Science
with Biology or 10+2 with English, Physics,
Chemistry, Biology (EPCB) or Uttar Madhyama
with EPCB examination securing at least 50%
marks, are eligible to apply.
Age Limit :
Below 25 years can only apply.
Entrance Exam :
Time : Application form is distributed in August
and entrance examination is conducted in September.
Paper :
The entrance paper consists of
(i) General Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology)
+ Health Science - 75 marks.
(ii) Basic concept of Ayurveda - 25 marks.
(iii) English - 50 marks.
Total - 150 marks.
The Campus provides scholarship to the students
securing higher positions in the entrance exam
and in the professional exams. The scholarship
is provided under 2 headings:
1. Bonafied scholarship scheme - provided to
25% students annually.
2. Free-ship scheme - provided to 20% students
annually.
The
Library of the campus is well equipped with
books, teaching and learning materials with
good environment for study.

Hostel :

Hostel is provided to the students with good
environment. It is situated in Kirtipur.
