Description:
It is a tree 5-10 meters high. Bark is sooth and dark grey. Flowers are usually scarlet red and sometimes yellow in color. Fruits are found with a woody rind and an interior separating membranous wall containing numerous seeds. Seeds have a fleshy external shell which is either red, pink or whitish.

it grows in warm valleys and outer hills of the height 900 m. to 1800 m.

Phytochemical properties:
It contains protein, fat, fibres, carbohydrate, minerals, calcium, magnesium, oxalic acid, phosphorus, iron, sodium, potassium, cupper, sulphur, clorine, thiamine, riboflavin, nicotinic acid and vitamin C. it also contains pelletierine and iso-pelletierine which act upon tapeworm.

Medicinal properties:
A decoction of seed is used to treat syphilis. Juice used to treat jaundice and Diarrhoea. Juice of flower is used to treat nose bleeds. The fruit pulp and the seed are stomachic and digestive. Its root bark shows antibacterial property. It is also used in Cough, piles, pimples and dysentery.

Dosage:
Fruits juice: 60 ml three to four times per day.
Seed powder: 5 gm three times per day.
Whole fruit powder: 5 gm three times per day.
Bark decoction: 40-80 ml.

Dadimastaka churna, dadimadya Ghrita etc
