Substances
Cereals
Wheat, pulses, rice, godhuma, mustard etc. are cereals/grains.
These cereals prevent ageing, increase appetite and
help in the healing or wounds faster. The perfect season,
the perfect soil and the good quality of seeds are the
three basic requirements to have the best qualities
of grains. Cereals which are quite are really helpful.
At the same time, freshly harvested and not so optimal
ripe cereals should be avoided.
Meats
Best of meat is from the wild animals. In increasing
order of goodness is the meat of aquatic, swampy, carnivorous
and single hooved animals. Meats of deer, goat and cock
are wholesome; the liver is the best part to be consumed.
Meats of sheep, cow, buffalo, elephant, pig, fog, and
dove should be avoided.
Fruits
All fruits should be taken ripe, the fruit of Bael (Aegle
marmelous) is the exception. Fruits should be avoided
if they are unripe or over ripe. Out of season fruits
should be discarded. Fruits which have been eaten by
worms should also be avoided. Some examples viz. fruits
of coconut, grapes and banana are laxative in action,
they improve the quality and pitch of voice and check
bleeding. Pomegranate (Punica granatum) is good for
heart patients, Mango (Mangifera indica) improves the
complexion. Fruits of tukhmi, a variety of mango can
prevent and cure early stages of cancer if regularly
taken for two months. Strawberry fruits is a diuretic
and refrigerent.
Vegetables
Jivanti (Leptadinia reticulata) is the best to consume
leafy vegetables contain an abundance of positive food
factors such as antioxidant and free radical scavanging
properties with very little of the negative ones and
hence are highly positive than other vegetables and
should be taken as a part of each meal. Among the leafy
vegetables, the mustard variety should be avoided. Strawberry
leaves are a tonic, diuretic and refrigerant. Strawberry
leaves tea stimulates appetite, is good for bowel troubles
and cleans the stomach. As an external wash, these leaves
treat eczema. Garlic (Allium sativum) is good for the
heart as it is one of the best remedies for hypercholestrolemia,
atherosclerosis and diseases of the gastrointestinal
tract. It improves voice complexion and sight. Spices,
such as Asfoetida (Ferula narthex) are laxative and
carminative in action and improve digestion.
Tubers
Water chestnut (Singhara) increase milk and is nutritive.
Because of this quality it increases semen (Shukra dhatu).
These are easily digestible too. Suran (Amorphophallus
campanulatus blume) is stomachic and is used for abdominal
collics, worm infestations, hepatamegaly and haemorrhoids.
Metal Stones
Copper, iron, tin, silver and gold are sour, salty and
prevent extra deposition of fat and also prevent ageing.
Diamond is a cardiac tonic. It promotes longevity, strength,
complexion, intellect and eye sight. It is also anticancerous.
Some Ashes (Bhasmas) are made out of these heavy metals
using single metal or a composition of metals. These
are then properly purified according to the purification
principles of Metallic therapy (Rasa-shastra) Ashes
once made with best quality metals and then throughly
purified and processed prove to be a boon for the patients
suffering from chronic organic illnesses.
Dietary
Products
Clarified butter (ghee) and milk from the cow are the
best. Preparations of milk, ghee and rice, promote longevity,
strength, complexion and cure urinary disorders and
promote healing activity and union fractures.
