Eye brow
Put a little warm castor oil (adira tail) on eyebrows.
This will enhance their growth.
Eyes
a) Place cotton wool swabs dipped in cold milk on
closed eyes to soothe the eyes and remove dark circles.
b) Triphalla (Harro, Barro, Amala) soaked in water
overnight then boiled & filtered. The filtrate
to be applied to eyes along with rose water.
Tired
Eyes
Lavender oil offers gentle relief for tired and strained
eyes. Add a drop of lavender oil to 500 ml of water
and shake the solution well. Dip two cotton wool pads
in the liquid, squeeze out the excess water and place
one pad over each eye.
Eye Exercises
There are certain exercises for the eyes which keep
the eyes healthy and save them from many diseases. By
toning up the connecting muscles and nerves of the eyes,
they even improve the eyesight.
1) Vertical Movement.
First look upward towards the middle of your forehead
and then on the tip of your nose without moving head.
Do it for 24 times and close eyes for a few seconds.
2) Horizontal Movement:
Place your both hands on the lateral sides of both eyes
closing your fists. Then after raise your thumbs. Without
moving the head, first look towards your right thumb
and then to left thumb. Repeat this for 24 times and
close your eyes for a few seconds.
3) Diagonal Movement:
First look above the corner of the right eye and then
towards the ground near the left knee. Do this for 12
times. Similarly, look above the corner of your left
eye and then bring attention on the ground near right
knee. Do it for 12 times and close your eyes for 5 seconds.
4) Rectangular Movement:
Follow an imaginary rectangular path or move your both
eyes in a rectangular path. Try to move your eyes to
the four corners of rectangular as much possible. It
should be done for 12 times. Take a rest for 5 seconds
closing the eyes.
5) Circular Movement:
It is the same process as in rectangular movement. In
this movement, we move the eyes in circle 12 times for
clockwise and 12 times for anticlockwise.
6) Forward-Backward Movement:
Stretch your right hand forward. Raise your thumb, closing
the fist with the fingers. Fix your gaze at a point
beyond your thumb and slowly bring it closer and fix
it ultimately on the thumb. Do that for at least 10
times. Now gradually start bringing the thumb closer
to the eyes and repeat the process of looking beyond
the thumb and at the thumb. Keep on doing it until the
thumb reaches close to eyes. Give rest to the eyes closing
it.
Some important
steps for the care of the eyes.
1. Palming
This is an easy and quick method of providing relief
to the tired eyes.
a) Close the eyes.
b) Bend the palms in the shape of a cup or make the
palms concave and place them on your respective eyes.
c) The palms should close, without touching, the eyes.
d) The fingers should rest on the forehead and nose
should remain uncovered.
e) Practise for 10 to 15 minutes to remove tiredness
of eyes.
2. Blinking
This is another easy, quick and natural method of giving
rest to the eyes. Blinking can be done during long reading,
gazing or staring etc. which are the main causes of
damage of eyesight and tiredness. Dropping the eye-lashes
is essential at least once in 5 seconds which avoid
the tiredness of eyes and can read or gaze for a long
time. Bookworms must cultivate the habit of blinking.
Triphala ….beneficial
for eyes:
Triphala, made up of Harro (Terminalia belerrica), Barro
(Terminalia chebula) and Amala (Emblica officinalis)
is said to be the mother medicine as it is useful in
all diseases and causes no harm as mother. It has healing
and antiseptic properties. Similarly when it is used
on eyes externally or is taken internally as medicine,
it empowers the eye sight, remove other eye problems.
Method
a) Put Triphala Churna or Tablet in water.
b) Let it be for whole night.
c) Before washing your eyes with this water in the morning,
filter it.
d) It is better to wash eyes with Triphala-water before
going to bed.
