Traditional Medicine
(TM) as a term refers to a way of protecting
and restoring health that ex isted before
the arrival of modern medicine. As the term
implies, the approaches to health belong
to the traditions of each country, and have
been handed down from generation to generation
(WHO). |

AYURVEDA
AND THE ISSUE ND NEPALOF INTEGRATION
The relationship between modern and traditional medicine
can be explained in four board forms. Monopolistic-
where modern medical doctors have sole right, tolerant
situation- where traditional practitioners are permitted
unofficially, parallel model- where both are considered
separate components and integrated model- where both
are integrated at the level of education and practice. |

AYURVEDA AND NEPAL
These two facts prove that the relation of Nepal
& Ayurveda dated at least 4,000 years back.
Furthermore, these two statements also prove that
the foundation, search & development of Ayurveda
were started on this Himalayan belt. Nepal, at present,
is spending billions of rupees to import expensive
allopathic medicine and much expensive equipments
and technology.

There is urgent
need for the government to establish an Ayurvedic
Research Institute furnished with the required
equipment for research of international standard
in matters related with the use of Ayurvedic
medicines, entities and treatment. The Ayurvedic
manuscripts available in the country needs
to be preserved, databank, reference library
should be established. |
