RAJKOT: In line with the Government of India's policy to popularise ayurveda globally, Jamnagar-based Gujarat Ayurved University (GAU) has signed a
memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Jionju University of Seoul.

The collaboration is aimed at education and research in ayurveda in south Korea in association with GAU experts, says in-charge vice-chancellor of GAU Dr M S Baghel. The tie-up was made possible as part of an ayurveda promotion event held in Seoul recently. It was jointly organised by GOI's AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, Homeopathy) department, Indian embassy in South Korea and Indian Council for Cultural Relation (ICCR).

"This is a long-term project. But, first, people outside India should be acquainted with the therapy, medicine and its effect. Automatically, it would open doors of ayurveda medicine manufacturers in that country. Secondly, ayurveda university in India will also get enrolment of foreign students and also promote medical tourism related to ayurveda in the country in line with Kerala," Baghel said. Around 14 foreign students are studying in GAU campus at Jamnagar and doing research.
